ANIME CAST

rose

With a highly stylized piece like Berubara, it isn't difficult for the voice acting to be buried under swords and roses.   Fortunately, the casting is excellent.   As Oscar, Tajima's voice is deep and noble when commanding her troops, slightly shaky when confessing her fears and love to André, fully capturing Oscar's icy exterior and burning heart.   Ueda's sweeter, tempestuous Antoinette offers a delightful contrast.   Then, of course, is the soothing alto of our dear friend André.   Somehow I don't have a strong impression of Fersen's voice.

When thinking of minor characters, Jeanne's first popped into my mind.  While I do like Rosalie's dreamy, girlish voice and Alain's brusque style, Jeanne's seiyuu delivered the femme fatale to perfection (especially the branding scene when Jeanne screeched and screeched!).   Other than those, the musician is quite notable for his few appearances.

Notes

[1] This list contains the main characters and some notable supporting figures, obviously biased in favor of those I like. :) Let me know if you want to see someone listed.

[2] The names are compiled from the ending credits of episodes 1-40, TMS's website, and the Berubara Data Book.   Romanized names are listed in Japanese order:   last name + first name.
