[ Night of January 30, 1994.   Accompanied by Oscar, Antoinette and her lady friends have escaped from the Versaille courts to attend a masquerade party at an opera house.   Antoinette starts dancing with the men, while Oscar keeps a close watch nearby.   Suddenly Antoinette notices a young handsome man and blushes, fleeing to the balcony to catch her breath.   The young man comes in and removes her mask.   While he marvels at Antoinette's beauty, Oscar realizes her lady is in danger and intervenes. ]

Oscar:	Young man! Tell me your name! Title! Rank!
Antoinette:	Oscar!
Fersen:	Young man? Just by looks I'd say you're one yourself. It's common courtesy to say your own name before asking others about theirs.
Oscar:	Oscar François de Jarjayes, Captain of the Palace Guards of France.
Fersen:	Ha ha.   Of course, only a Palace Guard would act so serious. I am Hans Axel von Fersen from Sweden. My title is Count.   As a foreign student, I have no rank until I return home.
Oscar:	Very well, von Fersen.   If you wish to speak with this lady, come to the court of Versailles to request an audience. This is Her Highness the Crown Princess of France, Marie Antoinette.
Fersen:	Ah!
Oscar:	Madame!   (lit. head maid-in-honor) Take Her Highness to the audience seats. People seemed to have recognized our Lady and started making a fuss.
Maid:	Yes, Monsieur Oscar.
