 Manga: Part A

[ July 13, 1789.   After declaring her wish to join the revolutionaries, Oscar leads her troops towards Tuileries Square.   The French Guards and German cavalry begin a heated battle.   In confusion, Oscar and her men look around at the falling bodies.   Oscar is suddenly gripped with a violent cough.   Worried, André turns around and starts racing towards her.   A bullet rips through his chest just as he reaches her.   Oscar carries André off the battlefield, with Alain tagging behind. ]

Oscar:	Ah ... !   Why ... Why was I born a woman?   Ah ... I can't even continue commanding ... Why was I born a woman?
[ Song of victory from the revolutionaries.   Oscar lowers André to the ground. ] < ... >
André:	Os-ca-r ... Your ... your eyes ... and ... nose ... Oh ... Oh ... yes, those lips ...
Oscar:	What are you saying? Can't you see? Can't you see? How long has it been, Andre? How long? Why didn't you tell me? Why did you keep it to yourself? You idiot!
André:	Wa-ter ...
Oscar:	Water? I'll get it. Wait for me, okay?
André:	{{ As time goes on and on, singing praises of life, please send my eternal thoughts to the woman I miss with all my heart ... Please send my eternal thoughts to ... }}
[ André dies.   Oscar returns with a glass of water and drops it in shock. ]
André:	[ remaining thoughts ] {{ Oh, those blue eyes, that figure soars through the sky as if it were a roaring Pegasus, heart trembling on wings of desire ... * Blond hair fluttering, fluttering in the wind ... }} * (lit. that figure, as if quaking/startling the heart of Pegasus, who is roaring at the sky, like wings)
Oscar:	{{ Ahhh ... Ahhh ... }}
Bernard:	Citizen André Grandier is ...
[ Oscar runs toward the German cavalry. ]
Oscar:	Shoot!   Shoot me! Please shoot me! Shoot me ... !
Alain:	Commander!
Oscar:	Ah ... [ flashback to André's words when she tries to blind Bernard/Black Knight ] {{ An officer must never act on emotions. }} {{ An officer must never ... But ... but I'm only human! I'm human!   I'm human! Oh ... Please cut out my heart! Make me into stone! At least ... make me insane! }}

 Manga: Part B

[ July 14, 1789.   Some Parisians notice that the canons atop the Bastille prison have been turned toward the city itself.   The word quickly spreads through Paris, and soon an anxious crowd has gathered in the streets.   Oscar announces the march toward Bastille and turns around to face her troops. ]

Oscar:

André, come on!   Are you ready? {{ Oh, yes ... He's really gone. No more of his smile, his voice ... No more, no more ... How could this be? Oh! This can't be real! How could this be? Please, please answer me! Weren't you the one who cheered me on and embraced me tightly with all your strength? Weren't you the one who sent currents of feverish passion racing though my body? Together in joy, sharing our pains, our souls are so close in spirit. And now you are leaving me behind? Leaving me by myself! Half of my heart is ... Half of me is ... Ohhh! Ripped, torn to shreds ... Will God still let me go on living? I'm dead ... I'm dead ... When you died ... < ... > I too have died! }}
